Please review this policy before making or accepting a booking through the MietIt platform.
This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains the circumstances under which bookings made through MietIt may be cancelled and when a renter may be eligible for a refund.
MietIt operates an online rental marketplace that connects hosts and renters. Unless expressly stated otherwise, MietIt does not own, operate, or control the properties, accommodation, or other rental items listed by users.
Refund and cancellation eligibility may depend on the booking status, payment status, cancellation timing, check-in status, applicable listing conditions, and circumstances surrounding the cancellation.
A booking may be cancelled by the renter, host, or MietIt in accordance with the applicable booking conditions and these Terms.
Cancellation eligibility is determined based on the status of the booking at the time the cancellation request is made.
A renter may request cancellation of a booking through the available MietIt booking controls.
If the renter cancels before successful check-in verification, the refund amount, if any, will be determined according to the applicable cancellation conditions for that booking.
A renter should carefully review the cancellation conditions applicable to the booking before completing payment.
Hosts are expected to honour confirmed bookings and provide the property or rental item described in their listing.
If a host cancels a confirmed booking before successful renter check-in, the renter may be eligible for a refund of amounts paid for the affected booking, subject to the payment status and applicable circumstances.
MietIt may take appropriate action against hosts who repeatedly cancel confirmed bookings, provide materially inaccurate information, or otherwise misuse the Platform.
If a booking is cancelled before successful check-in verification, the renter's refund eligibility will be determined according to the applicable cancellation conditions.
Where the booking is eligible for a refund, MietIt may initiate the refund through the payment provider used for the original transaction.
MietIt may use an OTP-based verification mechanism to confirm the renter's check-in for a booking.
Where applicable, the check-in OTP is generated following successful payment verification and is intended to verify the renter's check-in for the relevant booking.
A successful check-in OTP verification may be recorded by the Platform as confirmation that the renter has completed the applicable check-in process.
Users must not share, misuse, reproduce, manipulate, or fraudulently use an OTP.
Important: Successful check-in verification changes the cancellation and refund status of the booking.
Once the renter's check-in has been successfully verified using the applicable OTP, the booking is considered to have entered the rental period.
Cancellation after successful check-in verification does not automatically qualify the renter for a refund.
A renter who chooses to stop using the property or rental item after successful check-in verification is not automatically entitled to recover the booking amount merely because the rental is no longer being used.
Any refund requested after successful check-in verification will be considered only where applicable under the booking conditions, required by applicable law, caused by a verified payment or Platform error, or expressly approved by MietIt based on the circumstances.
In simple terms: Before successful OTP check-in, cancellation may qualify for a refund according to the applicable cancellation conditions. After successful OTP check-in, there is no automatic refund.
Once successful check-in verification has occurred, the renter may no longer receive a refund merely because the renter decides not to continue using the rental.
Leaving the property, returning the rental item early, or voluntarily ending the rental period does not by itself create an automatic right to a refund.
Refund requests after check-in may be reviewed where there is a material Platform issue, payment-processing error, legal requirement, or other circumstance that reasonably justifies review.
Following successful check-in verification, the applicable host payout may remain on hold for a designated period before it is released.
Where a three-day holding period applies, the host payout may remain on hold for approximately three days following the applicable successful check-in event.
The purpose of the holding period is to allow relevant booking, payment, refund, dispute, fraud, or security issues to be identified before payout processing.
The three-day holding period is a payout-processing mechanism. It is not a three-day cancellation or refund window.
The existence of a payout holding period does not by itself create a right to cancel the booking or obtain a refund.
A renter may be eligible for a refund where the applicable booking or cancellation conditions provide for one.
Depending on the circumstances, a refund may be considered where:
A refund may not be available where:
Where a refund is approved or otherwise applicable, MietIt may initiate the refund through the payment provider used for the original transaction.
Refunds will generally be returned to the original payment method where technically and legally possible.
Once MietIt has successfully initiated a refund, the time required for the refunded amount to appear in the user's account may depend on the payment provider, card issuer, bank, or other financial institution.
MietIt is not responsible for delays caused solely by a third-party payment provider or financial institution after the refund has been successfully initiated.
If a payment fails, is declined, or is not successfully captured, the booking may not become confirmed.
If an amount has nevertheless been debited due to a payment processing issue, the transaction may be subject to reconciliation and refund through the relevant payment provider.
If a user believes that they have been charged more than once for the same booking or that an incorrect amount has been charged, they should contact MietIt support promptly.
MietIt may investigate the transaction and, where an incorrect or duplicate charge is confirmed, facilitate the appropriate correction or refund.
A disagreement between a host and renter does not automatically result in a refund.
MietIt may facilitate communication and review information relating to a booking, payment, cancellation, damage claim, or other dispute.
MietIt does not automatically accept responsibility for claims arising from the independent conduct of hosts or renters.
Users should provide accurate information and appropriate supporting evidence when submitting a refund or dispute request.
MietIt may delay, restrict, cancel, or investigate a refund or payout where there are reasonable grounds to suspect fraud, payment abuse, account misuse, false information, manipulation of bookings, or other unlawful activity.
Users must not intentionally create cancellations, payment disputes, refund requests, or false claims for the purpose of obtaining money or benefits to which they are not entitled.
A host is not necessarily entitled to receive a payout for a booking that has been cancelled or refunded.
Where a booking is cancelled before the applicable payout stage, the host payout may be reduced, cancelled, reversed, or otherwise adjusted according to the booking and payment status.
Where a payout has already been initiated or processed, subsequent refunds, reversals, disputes, or payment-provider actions may affect the amount ultimately received by the host.
MietIt may review cancellation or refund requests arising from exceptional circumstances, technical failures, payment processing errors, safety concerns, legal requirements, or other circumstances materially affecting a booking.
Any decision made in such circumstances will be based on the available information, applicable booking conditions, payment status, and applicable law.
Submission of a cancellation or refund request does not guarantee that a refund will be approved.
Refund eligibility is determined according to the applicable booking conditions, cancellation timing, payment status, check-in status, circumstances of the request, and applicable law.
Nothing in this policy is intended to remove, restrict, or override any mandatory consumer protection rights or other legal rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
MietIt may update this Refund & Cancellation Policy from time to time. Material changes may be communicated through the Platform or other appropriate means.

By making or accepting a booking through MietIt, you acknowledge that you have reviewed the applicable booking conditions and understand that cancellation and refund eligibility may depend on the timing and circumstances of the cancellation.
In particular, successful check-in verification using the applicable OTP indicates that the renter has completed the check-in process. Cancellation after successful check-in does not automatically create a right to a refund.
